Dr. Pierrette Mimi Poinsett is an experienced board-certified pediatrician who has been providing direct patient clinical care for 19 years, and has a total of three decades of experience. Currently, she is working as a medical consultant and collaborating with various projects and clients in the pediatrics field, with a focus on children and adolescents with special needs.
As an active and connected patient advocate and writer, Dr. Poinsett is widely recognized on social media, particularly on Twitter where she is known as @yayayarndiva and #GodmotherDoc. She is also the co-founder and co-moderator of the successful monthly #SickleCellChat. Through her engagement on these platforms and involvement in other initiatives, she continues to demonstrate her passionate leadership, dedicated to helping families navigate medical, mental health, school, and social programs effectively.
Dr. Poinsett's areas of expertise include patient navigation, educational advocacy for families, and addressing the needs of children and adolescents with special health care needs, learning differences, and behavioral issues. She earned her MD from the University of Chicago, a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a licensed Pediatrician in the State of California. Additionally, she is a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics.
